AWC’s Greatest Asset: Our Team

Auld & White Constructors recently had the privilege of being interviewed by the Jax Daily Record. For the article, both Nate Marty, CEO, and Buck Smoak, Director of Business Development, shared their thoughts on the current organization and how they see us growing in the upcoming years.

Over the past 35 years, AWC has grown from two to 140+ construction professionals. This group works collaboratively with each other, subcontractors, design partners, and clients to maximize success in Northeast Florida. As a locally-focused organization, we have strategically aligned our growth with that of our clients and community. Year after year, AWC has been fortunate to build on its past. “This growth could not happen without having a passionate and dedicated team,” shared Nate Marty.

“AWC’s greatest asset is Our Team.”

– Nate Marty, Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

Although AWC has been headquartered in Jacksonville since 1987, “we have a young organization that is built on trust and accountability,” shared Marty. As we have thoughtfully grown this past year, we have awarded significant raises to our entire team, implemented new training so they can continue their education, and defined clear pathways so a carpenter can understand the steps it takes to become a Superintendent. With over half of our team working in the field every day, AWC continues to embrace a philosophy of focusing on local work. This founding principle was established with the goal that each team member is able to go home to their family at night.

When engaging prospective new hires, multiple members of the AWC Team meet with the candidate to ensure he/she is aligned with our culture. This collective consideration has strengthened our team and AWC’s legacy to continue to Build a Better Future for its People, Clients, and Community.

AWC provides General Contracting (GC) and Construction Management (CM) services for new construction and renovation of a wide variety of project types in differing environments, including institutional, industrial, healthcare, public, and commercial facilities throughout Jacksonville and the surrounding seven counties’ area. We understand the cost investment necessary to build our clients’ projects. We challenge the market by leveraging local relationships to ensure clients get the most efficient, cost-effective project possible. AWC understands that speed and safety of its projects are paramount, so we coordinate amongst various subcontractors to ensure projects stay on track, within budget, and completed per the schedule.

“At AWC, we are true Constructors who can self-perform numerous components of a project.”

– Buck Smoak, Director of Business Development

This differentiates us from many of our local counterparts. By having the ability to self-perform work, we provide the competitive advantage of avoiding delays and adding expertise that is unmatched in the industry.

As proof of our success, Auld & White Constructors has received several awards, including multiple ULI, NAIOP, and ABC Pyramid, Merit Choice, and Eagle Awards of Excellence.

Additionally, the Jacksonville Business Journal has recognized AWC as one of the Best Places to Work for four (4) years running

Finally, AWC’s strong sense of social responsibility sets our team apart from other contractors. With Northeast Florida being the place where we work, live, and play, it is important to support our community. Auld & White Constructors shares its success by supporting many local nonprofit organizations financially and through volunteering.
