Auld & White Constructors Completes Second LEED Project for Community First Credit Union
Jacksonville, Fla., Oct.7, 2009 – Auld & White Constructors has completed the construction of a second LEED project for Community First Credit Union. The credit union’s St. Johns Branch opened for business on September 28, 2009. Auld & White and design partner Gresham Smith & Partners are anticipating LEED Silver certification.
Auld & White has constructed multiple branch facilities for Community First, including its first LEED Silver certified branch located on Beach Boulevard near Hodges Boulevard. The newest location will consume approximately 30% less energy and water than branches built using conventional methods. The building’s energy efficient features include a cool white roof, tubular skylights for natural light, and photo and motion sensor controlled light fixtures. Water conservation is achieved through the use of native, drought-resistant plants that reduce the need for irrigation. Inside the building, low-flow plumbing fixtures, automatic faucets and point-of-use water heaters save water and energy. Incorporating sustainable building practices into their branches reflects Community First’s commitment to the environment.
