What project have you enjoyed most while working at Auld & White Constructors?
I’ve enjoyed all the projects I’ve been working on but one specifically was the JSO (Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office) firing range we build out at the P-Farm. My dad back when he was in the Navy, in his younger days, helped build the berm for the firing range out there. So it was cool to be out there where he worked once.

What have you enjoyed most about working at Auld & White Constructors?
I would say it’s just been a great company to work for. They are very family-oriented. They really care about building their team up internally and everybody’s relationships internally. I was born and raised in Jacksonville so it’s been really nice to be a part of that development and to see what we’re doing for the community. It’s been really good.

How has working at Auld & White Constructors complemented your academic studies?
It’s one thing to be sitting in a classroom and learning something and reading something off the board or in your textbook but it’s another thing to be in the field and you actually get to make those connections to what you’re doing in school to what’s actually going to be your reality in the field. I think working with Auld & White has really elevated my learning experience and I get to bring the knowledge I’ve learned out in the field back to school. I sometimes already know what I’m going to be learning so it’s been really helpful. It’s been a cool experience!

What is your most memorable experience with Auld & White Constructors?
I would have to say my most memorable experience at Auld & White (Constructors) was when we went to go do a TopGolf event where we got all of the office people together with the people in the field who we don’t get to see as much. We all kind of just mingled, ate some food together, and talked about the different projects were on. We hit the golf ball and just had a good time socializing.

What have you enjoyed most about working at Auld & White Constructors?
I would say the most fun project I’ve been able to experience has been Southern Grounds at the (Jacksonville International) airport. I travel often to the Jacksonville airport so it’s awesome seeing that walking through the airport. As soon as you walk in you see Southern Grounds right there. I live at the beach and so every other or every other weekend I go out and I get to see Southern Grounds at the beach. I eat there and it’s nice to see the correlation between what’s at the beach and what I’m currently working on building at the airport.

How has your internship at Auld & White Constructors been different than others?
I’ve had multiple internships but I’d say this one has definitely been the best for me as far as the learning experience goes. Comparing to what I’ve learned at other internships this one takes it a little bit deeper into the office side of what goes on behind the scenes, as far as construction goes, and then also the weekly updates. They make (sure you are learning and) that talk (about it during) your six-month check-ins or your nine-week check-ins. (They want to) really understand how you’re handling the process. Is there anything that we could do better? Anything that can be improved on? Anything that we are strong in? I think that’s really good as far as with an internship. They are always asking questions and making sure you’re not afraid to speak up or ask for something to change. So I’ve had a great experience!

How has working at Auld & White Constructors complemented your academic studies?
It’s one thing to learn about construction processes and backgrounds in classes at UNF and it’s completely different to learn it in real life. For example, we learn a lot about concrete and we even get to do a slump test and test the strength of it, but it doesn’t compare to going to your first concrete pour out on a site. Another thing that this internship has helped me with is that I haven’t taken a scheduling or estimating class yet and with what I’ve learned here (at Auld & White Constructors), those classes will be super easy because I know how to do it all.

What is your most memorable experience with Auld & White Constructors?
One really cool experience that I’ve had with Auld & White (Constructors) so far has been a company meeting where all 150 people came together. It was really nice. It made everything feel like everybody was really tight-knit, and it was really nice that everybody you know got to meet each other if they hadn’t yet. (Everyone) talked to each other and one thing that was really cool about the meeting was they opened it with a prayer. (It) made it really feel family-friendly.

How has your internship at Auld & White Constructors been different than others?
With Auld & White (Constructors), it’s been really nice because I’ve been in the field for my internship, and compared to normal internships where not everybody gets to get out in the field. It’s a lot better to learn out in the field rather than in the classroom. In the classroom, you’re learning by the book and by videos. It’s really nice to be out here and learning exactly how everything is going on in the field and helps out for the future.

What have you enjoyed most about working at Auld & White Constructors?
The most enjoyable part of working at Auld & White(Constructors) has been the experience. Auld & White (Constructors) is a very family-friendly company and they really make it feel like you’re a part of the family whether you’re an intern or whether you’re higher up in the company. It’s just really nice to know that they care about their employees and everybody that’s part of the company.

What has been your favorite project while working at Auld & White Constructors?
Currently, I’m on Reunion Rehab Hospital which is an AHCA project. (AHCA) is the certain set of standards that are required for Health Care buildings. I really enjoy working on this project with the team just because they’re so easy to get along with and they’ve been teaching me so many different things. I have really enjoyed it.

How has your internship at Auld & White Constructors complemented your academic studies?
I am currently a Junior / Rising Senior at the University of West Florida in Pensacola. This is my first time in the field for an internship, so it’s definitely been a great experience to kind of see all the ins and outs of how things go on. I’m a very hands-on learner, so it’s definitely helped me through studying and understanding what is on paper versus what’s actually in your face.

What have been some significant tasks you performed while working at Auld & White Constructors?
When I first started (interning during construction) at Reunion Rehab (Hospital), there was no AC on either of the three floors. We really needed to get the AC on, so I was tasked with putting laborers on each floor to clean it. (I made sure they were) getting all the dust up so we could meet a schedule. That task helped us push forward and with the completion (of) work, we could get patients in the building quicker.

What project have you enjoyed most while working at Auld & White Constructors?
I would say the most enjoyable part for me has just been getting the opportunity to learn so many new things and just the environment like working with everyone, like everyone has been super great, super nice. Like it’s been easy to talk to people and I just have been able to learn so much and I’ve never have felt bad about asking any questions and I have just really appreciated the opportunity that Auld & White (Constructors) has given me to learn and grow within the industry.

What has been your favorite project while interning at Auld & White Constructors?
My favorite project has been Chet’s Creek Church. I’ve never worked on anything with tilt panels before. And so just getting to see the process of how all the till panels came together, how they laid them out and then watching them fly and watching it just become like a building in a couple of days, just being able to work on that project and get to see something like that has been really cool for me.

How has your internship at Auld & White Constructors complemented your academic studies?
This is my first internship I’ve ever done. And so in school, we’ll talk about RFIs, scheduling, and all that, but I never really was like making that connection until I came and did the internship here and just being able to have the hands on experience and be like this is what a submittal is and this is what an RFI is. I’ve been able to connect that back to my studies and I feel like I’ve been able to kind of get a better understanding of everything I’m learning in school and like being able to have that real world experience to apply to it.
